After the shock wore off that we had bought the house across the street from my parents, we decided we should take the next step... and tell them we were going to be their new neighbors!
They had no idea we had been considering it.
So, it came as quite a surprise them them when we went to the dinner at their house and gave them this cute note:
We went to work right away drafting our plan (or dream, rather). We measured every square inch of the house to create our own "blueprints," then went to work moving lines which would eventually be walls and laying out our future home floor plan.
We scheduled a walk through with a contractor to talk about our major projects and get some ballpark ideas on costs. We knew we wanted to a lot of work ourselves, but some of the more skilled tasks like HVAC, electrical, and plumbing we would likely leave to the pros.
